**The Script Announces New Album ‘Satellites’ and 2025 Tour Dates in Tribute to Late Bandmate Mark Sheehan**
Irish pop-rock band The Script has announced the release of their new album, *Satellites*, and an accompanying world tour, marking their first major project since the passing of guitarist and co-founder Mark Sheehan in April 2023. Sheehan died at the age of 46 after a brief illness, leaving a significant void in the band he helped form in 2001 alongside frontman Danny O’Donoghue and drummer Glen Power.
The album *Satellites* is set to be released on August 16, 2024, and represents a poignant tribute to Sheehan’s legacy. O’Donoghue has described the album as a celebration of life, stating that the band chose to focus on honoring their late bandmate’s memory through uplifting music rather than dwelling in sorrow
In support of the new album, The Script will embark on the *Satellites World Tour*, which includes 14 concerts across four countries in 2025. The tour will commence on June 20 at High Lodge, Thetford Forest in the UK, followed by performances at venues such as the Isle of Wight Festival, Westonbirt Arboretum, and Cardiff Castle. Additional dates include shows in Portugal, the United States, and Australia.
The band has also paid tribute to Sheehan on the second anniversary of his passing. On April 14, 2025, The Script shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing disbelief at the passage of time and reaffirming their commitment to carrying on Sheehan’s musical legacy. They have been dedicating the song “Arms Open” to him at every show, honoring his memory and the impact he had on their music and fans.
Despite the challenges following Sheehan’s death, including O’Donoghue’s personal struggles with grief, the band has found strength in their music and fan support. O’Donoghue has spoken openly about his journey through grief, emphasizing the importance of facing it head-on and using it as a source of creative inspiration.
The Script’s new chapter with *Satellites* and the upcoming tour serves as both a tribute to their late bandmate and a testament to their resilience and dedication to their craft. Fans can look forward to experiencing the band’s new music live, as they continue to honor Sheehan’s memory through their performances.
