In a significant development for the tennis world, Björn Borg, the legendary Swedish tennis player, has announced his full-time return to the sport in 2025 as the patron and Grand Master of Tennis for the newly established Legends Team Cup. This innovative competition aims to bring together retired tennis champions in a series of high-stakes matches across the globe.

**Legends Team Cup Overview**

 

The Legends Team Cup is an eight-event global tour designed to unite legendary tennis players in competitive matches held in world-class destinations. The inaugural event is scheduled to take place in Saint Barths in the Caribbean from June 12-14, 2025. Subsequent events are planned for New York’s UBS Arena from July 16-18 and St. Moritz’s historic Olympia Stadion from August 14-16. The Fall Session will commence in October, culminating in the Grand Superfinal, where the ultimate champions will be crowned.

 

The competition features three teams, each led by iconic captains who will select from a pool of 18 legendary players during the Annual Player Draft. Notable players expected to participate include Dominic Thiem, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Juan Carlos Ferrero, and David Ferrer. Matches are designed to be short and intense, with a maximum duration of 45 minutes, ensuring explosive and fiercely competitive battles.

As the patron and Grand Master of Tennis for the Legends Team Cup, Björn Borg’s involvement adds significant prestige to the competition.
