On February 21, 2025, a tragic shooting occurred outside the Driver Licensing Regional Office on Willismore Drive near Dixie Highway in Louisville, Kentucky, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The victims were identified as 33-year-old Antwanette Chillers, 18-year-old Leslye Harbin Jr., and 29-year-old Raysa Valdes.
Witnesses described the harrowing scene as unfolding rapidly. Jalen Eddings, who was present at the time, recounted that two masked individuals approached one of the victims lying on the ground and shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene. Another witness, Chandra Bahadurai, who had been waiting in line for a Real ID, compared the sound of the gunfire to popcorn popping.
Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officials indicated that the shooting appeared to be targeted. Chief Paul Humphrey stated, “We know what one of those individual victims was involved in and why they were part of this shooting.” Witnesses reported that the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
In response to the incident, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which operates the licensing office, implemented immediate security measures, including a temporary lockdown and sending employees home for the day. The office reopened on the following Monday, February 24, with heightened security protocols in place.
LMPD continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to contact their tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or use their online portal.
