Dr. Charles Stanley, a prominent Baptist pastor, passed away on April 18, 2023, at the age of 90. Throughout his 51-year tenure at First Baptist Church Atlanta, he was known for his steadfast leadership and commitment to his congregation.
It’s worth noting that in 2018, Pastor Stephen Cox of Bible Baptist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina, experienced a devastating church fire that destroyed his entire library. Dr. Stanley, upon hearing of this tragedy, sent Pastor Cox a complete set of his books along with a letter of encouragement, exemplifying his compassion and support for fellow ministers.
In a separate incident, a historic chapel at First Baptist Dallas Church was destroyed by a massive four-alarm fire. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
